Once again, the schedule was pretty tight: just last weekend, the Saffier Se 33 completed its first sail on the North Sea off IJmuiden in the Netherlands. Now the boat is already 800 kilometres further south for its premiere at the Interboot trade fair in Friedrichshafen. The fact that the Saffier Se 33 can be seen on Lake Constance was not planned, but is understandable. Shipyard boss Dennis Hennevanger sees his latest daysailer as being made for inland waters such as Lake Constance. That's why the busy Dutchmen stepped on the gas and got their new boat ready just in time for the trade fair on the Swabian Sea.
Dennis Hennevanger himself describes the new Saffier Se 33 as the "ultimate daysailer". There is no actual cabin superstructure, which makes the look very special. This is part of the general concept of Saffier's "Elegance Range" (Se). Nevertheless, the new 10-metre boat should also offer good comfort for short trips in the slip cabin below deck. There are basically two extension versions to choose from. The version with only two berths aft offers a spacious toilet room in front of the main bulkhead. However, those sailing with a family can order the boat with an additional berth in the foredeck, with or without a bulkhead. In this case, a toilet room is installed aft. The customer can also choose whether to have the galley at the front or rear of the boat. For a daysailer concept, Saffier Yacht offers an astonishing amount of customisation options with the new boat.
On deck, the Saffier Se 33 is deliberately kept simple. The self-tacking rail for the jib is already fitted from the shipyard. In addition, the halyards, outhauls and trim lines are all routed to within easy reach of the helmsman, usually below deck. Single-handed capability is a strong focus in the design of the Saffier Se 33. Unusual for a daysailer of this size is the folding bathing platform, another standard feature of the new Saffier. Also a real novelty within the genre: the double steering wheels. They are designed to keep the passage through the ship clear.
Shipyard manager Dennis Hennevanger reports enthusiastically on the first test runs: "We only had the boat in the water for two days, but we still tested it extensively. I almost think that the Saffier Se 33 is the best boat we have built so far in terms of sailing characteristics!"
The Saffier Se 33 is offered for a price of 117,810 euros (incl. VAT, incl. sails). On the Interboot trade fair in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, the attractive boat can be seen in Hall A1, Stand 306.
